Chiropractic Care

According to WebMD:

Among people seeking back pain relief alternatives, most choose chiropractic treatment. About 22 million Americans visit chiropractors annually. Of these, 7.7 million, or 35%, are seeking relief from back pain from various causes, including accidents, sports injuries and muscle strains. Other complaints include pain in the neck, arms, and legs, and headaches. Chiropractic care is considered a safe and effective treatment for soft tissue injuries.

Soft tissue injuries (STIs) are when trauma or overuse occurs to muscles, tendons or ligaments. Most STIs are a result of trauma from a sports injury, auto accident, work injury or unexpected trauma from a sudden unexpected or uncontrolled movement such as stepping off a curb and rolling your ankle. However, soft tissue damage can also occur from excessive overuse or chronically fatigued structures, especially muscles and tendons. At the hospital, urgent care or medical doctor’s facility, STIs are commonly treated with prescription medication. This will only mask the pain. The injury still needs to be treated or you will experience continued pain. If left untreated, STIs can lead to more damage to existing structures in your body. Chiropractors are specially trained in treating STIs through Tampa Chiropractor adjustments and physical medicine. The use of chiropractic assists your body in healing STIs. It is important to find a Chiropractor who is State Board Certified with a doctorate degree in Chiropractic. Medical doctors do not have the education and training in performing chiropractic adjustments, however, most Doctors of Osteopathy (DO) will have had training in this area.

What Makes Cobb Rehab Wellness Different from Other Chiropractors?

Cobb Rehab & Wellness has been successfully treating patients suffering with pain since 2008. Along with chiropractic adjustments, we incorporate many different therapies to help our patients achieve their goal in resuming daily activities. Sometimes, your pain is so severe, the thought of a chiropractic adjustment would only worsen the pain. Sometimes, your body is not ready for an adjustment, therefore, you get one and only end up feeling worse. At Cobb Rehab & Wellness, we will thoroughly evaluate and determine a Tampa Chiropractor treatment plan that fits your individual needs.

Dr. Cobb is trained in properly identifying and successfully treating sports injuries. He has worked on athletes, young and old, newly developing or seasoned veterans. He understands that athletes want to be in the best shape for top performance. For those involved in auto accidents, Dr. Cobb – the leading Tampa Chiropractor – has received extensive education and training in treating these types of injuries. He understands what is necessary to achieve the best recovery both physically and for your case. Be very careful with the doctor/clinic you choose in treating auto accident injuries. Sometimes you can end up with mounting medical bills and continued ongoing pain due to improper treatment. Dr. Cobb works with a select group of quality providers to help you on your road to recovery.

Exclusive Connective Tissue Release Provider

For years doctors and scientists have been studying connective tissue in our bodies.  It has been a ‘myth’ and difficult to prove because it is not visible to the naked eye or even through xrays or other scans.  In a March 2018 article, a study published in the journal Scientific Reports, researchers from New York University’s School of Medicine say they have found a new organ…scientists found what is termed Fascia (connective tissue).   It is under our skin and between our organs.  Understanding it may eventually help treat disease and ease pain.

What is it?

Connective Tissue (Fascia) is a combination of collagen and elastin that runs through your body, uninterrupted from head to foot. It surrounds EVERY cell and continues in the interstitium, the space between cells.

Why is Connective Tissue so Important?

Connective tissue acts as a shock absorber within the body. This protects vital organs during times of stress i.e. falling down, impacts from sports or car injuries including trauma to your body from invasive medical procedures. During times of increased stress, connective tissue will tighten up to protect you.

Cobb Rehab & Wellness has been actively treating patients with Connective Tissue Release since 2014, and we are only one of the few Tampa Chiropractors offering this solution!

We are happy to offer a highly effective alternative treatment, CTR (Connective Tissue Release). CTR is a gentle form of physical therapy that some will say is similar to a deep tissue massage, however, unlike a massage, CTR applies sustained pressure on target areas of connective tissue surrounding your muscles and bones. This pressure is meant to release the restriction in connective tissue relieving pain and allowing for greater range of motion. CTR lets your connective tissue do the healing. If you are experiencing persistent, chronic or debilitating pain caused by a new or old injury or long term stress on your body and the pain isn’t going away, CTR may be the option for you. And it feels just as amazing when you meet with you Tampa Chiropractor! Many patients feel immediate results after their first treatment. Dr. Cobb and our therapists combined have undergone over 500 hours of extensive training through John Barnes Myofascial Release. They continue to participate in coursework to improve their understanding, skills and techniques to offer this unique therapy for our patients. Dr. Cobb introduced CTR to the clinic in 2014. He was frustrated when our patients were needing more than just an ‘adjustment’. Some patients reported feeling great but after a short time, the pain would return. So he went in search for therapies that would complement and enhance chiropractic. This is when he discovered the role of Connective Tissue and how treating this ‘organ’ will assist with a speedy recovery of injuries and more importantly, sustain pain-free status for a longer period of time. In addition, after a major hip injury, when Dr. Cobb wasn’t healing with Chiropractic care only, CTR was a savior in relieving his pain. 10 days after a hip replacement, he was back on the golf course and he credits that to his post-op CTR treatments. Although there are many physical therapy clinics that offer John Barnes Myofascial Release throughout the United States, there are only a few practitioners in the State of Florida and just a handful in the Tampa Bay area offering solid Tampa Chiropractor care.
